I’ve been an Audible subscriber for years and have built up a large collection of audio books. (My favorite listen, by far, has to be 11-22-63 by Stephen King) Today’s first knickknack is a collection of 1000 free audio books including fiction, poetry and non-fiction by authors such as Twain, Hemingway, Orwell, HG Wells etc.
I truly disliked history at school and could think of nothing worse than having to learn when van Riebeeck landed in Cape Town (1652) or when Napoléon invaded Russia. Old age, podcasts and, strangely enough, Gareth Cliff have ignited my passion for all things history.
A selection of history podcasts that fuel my passion:
Hardcore History by Dan Carlin should be required listing in all schools.
Karina Longworth’s You Must Remember This- start with the Charles Manson Archive
Fall of Civilizations Podcast - looking at a different collapsed society each episode. Why did they fall? What happened next? And what can they teach us?
The Secret History of the Future examines how historical precedents can transform our understanding of modern technology.
Breaker, the Social Podcast App, hits version 1.0 today! Features include discover, follow friends, skip silences, sleep timer, custom playlists and a chat inbox.
Casper, MeUndies, SquareSpace, Blue Apron, Zip Recruiter. Family Guy breaks down the current state of podcast ads. #lol
On an unrelated note, today’s Instagram knickknack features miniature art by the incredibly talented Tatsuya Tanaka.
